As a teacher and a mom, I'm always looking for good quality toys that encourage imagination, creativity and independent play. I've found a bunch of amazing toys and books for this gift guide that we either own or will be giving our little ones this Christmas!

1. Wooden Blocks: These have been our favourite blocks to build with - we've built everything from bridges, to boats and castles. Highly recommend!
2. Janod Wood Camera: We are always taking pictures of the kids and what a fun way to let the kids have a turn behind the camera! (It even makes the shutter sound when you press the button. So fun!)
3. A Stone Sat Still book: This beautifully written book all about perspective and would make a wonderful conversation starter.
4. Stamps and Washable Ink Pads: Emilia will sit and play with stamps for hours. It's such a great independent activity. If by chance they get ink everywhere, it is washable! (Lots of selection at Michaels).
5. A Is For Apple and 123 Count With Me Books: These locally written and illustrated books ooze creativity with their beautiful, vibrant colours and illustrations. Great books for toddlers who are learning their alphabet and numbers in a fun way!
6. Magnetic Blocks: I'm so excited to give Emilia these for Christmas this year! I’m gearing up for hours of playing, building and experimenting with these.
7. Tattoos: A perfect stocking stuffer for your toddler! Get these cute ones from Small Jane Kids.
Big Ticket Present Ideas:
1. Grocery Cart: This is already wrapped up and ready to give to Emilia this year! It's a perfect addition to her little kitchen.
2. Melissa and Doug Activity Table: I've been humming and hawing about getting this activity table! I think it would be perfect to have a train set on or a great space to contain your building blocks!
3. Strider Balance Bike: We rented one of these in Palm Springs and Emilia used it all the time! It was the first thing we did every morning and the last thing we did before putting her to bed! This is definitely on our list to get her either for Christmas or her birthday!

4. Trampoline: So many of our friends have these and whenever we're over at their houses, we can't get Emilia off it! Also, a perfect thing to have in the house through our long winters to help the kids burn some energy. Hehe!

What are the best gifts that you’ve given a toddler??? Happy Shopping!
