There’s just something about a warm mug of Mulled Wine that makes it feel like Christmas. The smell of cinnamon and cloves filling your house. Sipping it as you’re snuggled up under a cozy blanket, looking at the Christmas tree sparkle. (That was me last weekend!)

I make Mulled Wine every year, whether its for a family gathering or for Christmas night, after the kids go to bed. Over the years, I’ve tweaked it a little bit - I prefer it full of spices and just a touch sweet. Here’s my go-to recipe:

Mulled Wine
Ingredients:
2 750ml bottles of red wine (of your preference)
2 oranges sliced
4 cinnamon sticks
2-3 star anise
14 cloves
Optional garnishes: orange slice, cinnamon stick, cranberries, star anise
Instructions:
Add all the ingredients into a slow cooker. Set on low for 2-3 hours.
Serve in mugs with your choice of garnish! The slow cooker can be kept on warm or low for guests to serve themselves.
And for those pregnant mamas (or if you want to let you kids have a taste) here’s a virgin version! It’s sweeter than the original but will still quench that Mulled Wine craving!
Mulled Wine (Non-Alcoholic)
Ingredients:
2 cups red grape juice
1 cup low sugar cranberry juice
1 1/2 cups water (can add more if it’s still too sweet)
1 orange sliced
14 cloves
2 star anise
4 cinnamon sticks
Optional garnishes: orange slices, cinnamon sticks, cranberries, star anise
Instructions:
In a large pot, add all of the ingredients other than garnishes and set on low for 1-2 hours, making sure not to let it boil.
Ladle into mugs and serve with your choice of garnish!
Our plan this weekend is to bundle up, turn on a Christmas movie and enjoy a cup of Mulled Wine! What are your plans for the weekend?
Love,
