10 Activities for the Flisat Table

We bought the IKEA Flisat Table when we spruced up the Playroom and we all LOVE it!! It has been so great for setting up sensory play invitations and letting Emilia (and sometimes Jacob) explore and play! I’ve been experimenting with a bunch of different ideas and here are the ones that we really liked and some that we are excited to try!

1. Spaghetti Play - we pretended we were cooking, cutting, chopping and eating spaghetti. Emilia is SO into imaginative play (I’m convinced she’ll be an actress), so the sensory bins that lend themselves to imaginative play are perfect for her right now!

2. Making “Soup”- use those older looking fruits from the fridge, add some herbs and you’ve got a nice smelling concoction that is perfect for making soup.

3. Threading - use whatever you have around the house to practice those fine motor skills. Make bracelets, necklaces or just thread for fun and maybe eat a few along the way!

4. Water Beads - They are all the rage right now and rightfully so. Water beads are so much fun to scoop, pour and just touch!

5. Wash Babies- Emilia is ALL about babies, so for her to be able to give her babies a bath is pretty exciting! Grab some cloths, towels and soap and you're good to go!

6. Plant Flowers - Spring is coming and we’ll be planting seeds outside soon but for now we’ll just pretend! I bought some dry black beans, fake flowers, small plastic pots and shovels. This will be great practice!

7. Snow Play- With the fresh snow we got last night, use it to put in the tubs and let the littles play! Build a mini snowman or little forts in the bin.

8. Alphabet Sort- We have some magnetic letters laying around the house so my plan is to fill a tub with rice and hide letters throughout it. In the other bin, use bowls labeled with the letters for Emilia to letter sort. If you want to level up, you could give your littles tweezers or tongs to pick the letters up with.

9. Dinosaur Dig- Pretend you’re an archeologist and dig for dinosaurs! I think I’m due for a refresh of kinetic sand. 🙈But nevertheless, it was fun to dig with the shovels and uncover the hidden dinosaurs.

10. Washing Dishes - Start them young! This is a super easy one to setup- water, soap and some dishes and you're ready! I put some play dishes in the bin to wash, but why not give them some real dishes to clean?! Lighten your load!

We had so much fun playing with these different bins and there is endless possibilities for the Flisat table! If you don't have a Flisat table, don't fret these ideas work just as well with any rubber bin!

Happy playing!
